Summer Newsletter

Fri 18 Jul 2025

The summer term has been an incredibly busy time for the school - please check out just some of the highlights below, or follow the links for even more information:

Sports Day

Sports days are a fabulous tradition - the sense of teamwork, excitement, belonging and exhilaration is something that pupils, staff and parents all look forward to all year. Your support, as ever, is very much appreciated!

One thing that is not always recognised is the amount of practice and organisation that it takes to make these days run smoothly and show our pupils in the very best light - thank you to our wonderful staff for the efforts in the weeks running up to the event. Smooth and simple is hard to achieve!

Graduations

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our Reception, Year 2, Year 4, and Year 6 graduations and leavers' events this week! Your incredible presence and enthusiastic support truly made these occasions unforgettable for our pupils. Seeing so many of you there, celebrating every milestone, speaks volumes about the strong partnership between home and school. Your dedication and encouragement are a massive reason why our children are so wonderful and thrive at Ledger Lane. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive community, and these events were a testament to the shining stars that are your children and the families who champion them.

Police visit
Thank you to the West Yorkshire Police’s traffic and dog-handling units, who visited our school this week. They showed us how they handle their search dogs and how their “more serious!” dogs are used to apprehend suspects…they also spoke to the children about how they help keep roads safer for us all, as Mrs Mullins (very sportingly) discovered!

Ofsted

Another reminder of the shortcut to our Ofsted report is here.

Making a difference in the community

Thank you so much to the groups of Y6 pupils who are taking part in the OutThere project this summer! They will be going“Out There” to help improve communities, with the chance of winning some     great prizes as a bonus!

Family Hubs
Summer holidays can put strain on time and resources for families. If you are developing worries around family relationships, behaviour,  school attendance, emotional
and mental health, domestic   abuse, parental conflict, housing issues,                                                     or employment and debt problems, Family Hubs can help
direct to the right people and service.

Leavers
It is with a heavy heart that we share some news about Mr. Foster. After this academic year, he will be moving on to explore new opportunities within some of our other academies.  Mr. Foster has been a huge asset to our staff team, and we've all valued his contributions to our school community. While we're sad to see him go, we wish him the very best and hope to see him return to Ledger Lane sometime in the future.

Hope you all have a great summer break!

We will return to school on 2nd September.
